Professional Construction
Company of
Wooden Houses Using
Natural
Materials

We are Tanaka Kenchiku, a professional construction company specializing in building wooden homes with natural materials.
Since our founding in 1949 in Iizuna, Nagano, we have been crafting homes where families can live comfortably and healthily, using solid wood and other natural materials.
With the skill of our talented craftsmen and our commitment to quality, we create homes that excel in both durability and comfort.

1. About Us

We were founded in 1949 here in Nagano Prefecture, and for three generations we’ve been building wooden homes rooted in the culture, nature, and climate of this region.
Our head office is located in a renovated school building in our hometown of Iizuna — a place full of fond memories for the local community, and also the school where our president and managing director once studied.
From here, we continue to create homes where people can not only live comfortably but also feel connected to their local community.

There are three core principles that guide everything we do:

  • ・Using wood sourced from Nagano for our structural materials.
  • ・Carefully selecting and using natural materials.
  • Designing homes with the lives and futures of families in mind.

Every home we build reflects the pride and craftsmanship of our team.

Our Broader Initiatives

We provide homes where you can enjoy
the warmth of both people and wood.

But at Tanaka Kenchiku, we’re not just building homes —
here are some of the wide-ranging initiatives we’re involved in:

  • Restoring and renovating
    old Japanese-style homes
  • Designing and constructing
    private accommodations and lodging facilities
  • Providing daily living support services
    for the elderly (Magokoro Support)

In recent years, we’ve also been collaborating with Shinshu University to support
research on thermal insulation efficiency and living environments in cold regions.

Through this partnership, we’re scientifically evaluating ways to
improve the energy efficiency, comfort, and sustainability of our homes —
and applying these findings to our designs.

For example, we’ve helped customers who:

  • snowy road

Want to enjoy skiing in winter and rent out the home as a holiday property during spring and fall

  • guests from overseas

Plan to build lodging facilities for overseas guests

  • home to enjoy

Are considering a second home to enjoy the changing seasons on weekends or for extended stays

What we offer:

  • ・Support with local regulations and permits (e.g., building approvals, change of use)
  • ・Designs that maximize the views and ensure durability and insulation suited for snowy regions
  • ・Use of natural, locally sourced Nagano materials and skilled local craftsmen
  • Remote meetings and on-site management for customers living far away
  • ・Information and support available in English (including support for foreign investors)

Connecting with the local community while creating homes that harmonize with nature — this is our approach to building in resort areas.

Nagano offers abundant nature and world-class ski resorts, and we’re here to help you create the perfect home just for you.
